Restoration of Fancy Stuff, renamed Vera Lee

Our Winter Project.
Fancy Stuff was built in the mid-70's by Bunker and Ellis.
This was one of the seven boats known as the wide-bodies.
All seven were built as lobster boats.

Before Restoration

Fancy Stuff has seen better days.
All the systems onboard were worn out and the cabin,
decks, and platform had been used hard.

We purchased the boat as we have a long
history with Bunker and Ellis boats and Jarvis
Newman is, of course, Raymond Bunker's son-in-law.

The boat was slowly torn apart as
we had not yet decided how to finish it off.

The boat was sold and it was decided that
we would turn it into a lobster yacht.

The interior was mocked up with quarter inch plywood
so the owner could get a feel for the interior space.

Galley area

While details of the interior were worked out,
the crew began removing, rebuilding, and repairing.

We cleaned the bilge and repainted it.

We fitted new interior bulkheads.

The old standing shelter was left on until
the last minute to help the hull hold its shape.

Here you can see the newly installed fir platform.

The engine is being lowered onto its new beds.
The new engine is located five feet further aft than the original.

Here you can see the new laminated cabin
beams installed and the trunk cabin sides.

She is starting to take shape.

The interior bulkheads are now installed.
