Original Top

This past winter Newman and Gray finished extensive work on Day by Day; a 32' lobster yacht designed by Arno Day and built by Frank Day, his brother, in Brooklin, Maine.

The boat was beginning to show serious signs of her age as she was built in 1986.

While the wooden hull was structurally in very good condition, the top was in dire need of replacement.

The old top was cut off, none of it was salvageable, and a completely new trunk cabin and steering shelter were constructed.

New Trunk Cabin Deck Beams

Both the steering shelter and the trunk cabin were constructed of fiberglassed marine plywood. Laminated fir beams and a mahogany windshield and trunk cabin sides finish out the top.

Overall, the boat exemplifies the degree of skill at Newman and Gray and our versatility in working with fiberglass or wood.
